The Department of Kinesiology and Health at Georgia State University is seeking motivated graduate students for our M.S. in Biomechanics/Exercise Science and Ph.D. in Kinesiology programs. Specific research areas include developmental postural control and walking dynamics, aging effect on posture and gait, physical intervention with persons with disabilities, prosthetics and orthotics, and the design and optimization of lower extremity prosthetics for functional tasks and in pediatric populations.

Our program is located in downtown Atlanta which provides ample opportunities to conduct research on movement of healthy people and special populations. Our program offers comprehensive advanced training in Biomechanics/Exercise Science leading to both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. Multiple opportunities for limited funding (GTA, GRA) will be available for qualified individuals to start in the Summer and Fall of 2008. Students will have opportunities to take advanced courses in biomechanics and related areas such as Biomechanical/Exercise Science Research Methodologies, Biomechanics of Human Movement, Musculoskeletal Biomechanics, Biomechanics of Orthopedic Injuries, Motor Development and Pediatric Disabilities, Advanced Exercise Physiology, and more. Students can also take courses in other areas such as Principles of Neuroscience, Psychology, Rehabilitation Science, among others. In addition, research seminars will be offered to enhance the research experience of graduate students.

Prospective students are strongly encouraged to contact the individual faculty member as listed below to discuss the opportunities. More information about the graduate program in Kinesiology and Health can be found at: http://education.gsu.edu/cps/1317.html.
