IMMEDIATE OPENING- Faculty positions in BIOMECHANICS/BIOMATERIALS/ CLINICAL ENGINEERING
The institute of Biomedical Engineering, National Yang-Ming University (NYMU) Taiwan ( http://www.ym.edu.tw) is seeking full time professorship faculties with expertise in Biomechanics/ Biomaterials/ Clinical Engineering ( Regenerative medicine).
Two positions in Biomechanics: earned PhD degree with expertise in Biomechanics, Ergonomics, and Medical Device Design. Teaching undergraduate courses: Engineering Mechanics, Advanced Mechanics of Materials, Kinematic Design Theory, Ergonomics, Computer-Aided Engineering, Manufacture of Medical Device, Experimental Design, Medical Device Design and Patent Analysis.
Two positions in Biomaterials: earned PhD degree with expertise in Biomaterial, Bio-Nano technology, Transport Phenomena. Teaching undergraduate courses: Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Transport Phenomena, Bio-Nano Engineering, Instrumental Analysis, Interfacial Phenomena, Biosensor, and Bioreactor.
Two positions in Clinical Engineering: earned MD/PhD degrees with expertise in Regenerative Medicine, Translational Medicine. Teaching undergraduate: Anatomy, Chemistry, Biological Models and Simulations, Systems, Bioengineering in Cells, Cardiovascular, Neural Systems and Genes to Cells.
Candidates must have an earned doctorate in an appropriate area, an established record of Scholarship, and a commitment to excellence in teaching and service. The successful candidate will be expected to secure extramural research funding and assume teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Post-doctoral/ university teaching experience and an established research program are preferred.
The Institute of Biomedical Engineering (iBME) was established in 1984 as the fourth graduate program at NYMU and the first Biomedical engineering graduate institute in the nation (http://bme.ym.edu.tw) offering B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. The institute values diversity in all its forms, the research funding/ pattern award and publication are top ranked in the nation.
The educational and research environment is enriched by the considerable breadth and diversity of faculty expertise and educational opportunities for students. Currently, the institute has 11 core professors, 12 adjunct professors and 10 affiliated faculties covering four fields, namely Bioelectronics, Biomechanics, Biomaterials and Clinical Engineering. There are 193 enrolled iBME students of which 98 are working toward Master degrees and 95 are pursuing PhD degrees, and expecting 30 undergraduate students in Fall semester 2008.
