POST-DOCTORAL POSITION AT McMASTER UNIVERSITY, Hamilton, ON, Canada.

The Sensorimotor Neuroscience Laboratory at McMaster University seeks a
post-doctoral fellow to work on experimental and theoretical problems in
motor learning under the supervision of Dr. Ramesh Balasubramaniam and
Dr. Tim Lee. The successful candidate should have (or is expecting) a
PhD in the fields of Psychology, Kinesiology, Neuroscience, Cognitive
Science, Complex systems, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent with a
healthy publication record and ability to work independently. Strong
experimental and computational/programming/modeling skills will be
expected. The ability to work with robotic devices, virtual
environments (haptic and visual) and neuroimaging data is a big plus.

The post-doctoral fellow will work with Dr. Ramesh Balasubramaniam and
Dr. Tim Lee to develop approaches that bring together cognitive,
connectionist, neurophysiological and dynamical systems perspectives in
motor learning. Candidates with an interest in multisensory integration
(vision, audition and haptics) and sequence learning are encouraged to
apply.

The newly constructed Sensorimotor Neuroscience Laboratory at McMaster
is a state-of-the-art facility equipped with a 10 camera VICON 3D motion
capture system, 2 AMTI force platforms, 4 high-force 6df phantom haptic
interfaces, a right-handed Cyberglove, a flock-of-birds magnetic
tracker, an Eye-Link II high-resolution scene camera and eye-tracker,
Delsys wireless EMG devices, head-mounted display units, 2 ATI 6df force
transducers, several high-performance computer workstations and a
Magstim(tm) rapid TMS stimulator. A 3T scanner that is dedicated for
research purposes is available through the McMaster University hospital
system and the Brain-Body Institute. The laboratory also supports a
full-time lab manager and several graduate students at the master's and
doctoral level.

McMaster University has a long intellectual history of excellence in the
areas of perception, motor control and learning. The University supports
a vibrant community of world-class scholars in all aspects of human
movement research. Strong collaborative ties exist between the
Departments of Kinesiology, Psychology, Neuroscience,
Electrical/Biomedical Engineering, and Rehabilitation Sciences.

The starting salary will be determined on the basis of the candidate's
experience. Expected starting date will be Jan 1, 2009. Applicants are
requested to send a CV, sample publications and the names of two
references to the address below (or by email) before Nov 15, 2008.
